STOP School Violence Program (BJA) - Students, Teachers, and Officers Preventing School Violence
The BJA arm of STOP funds evidence-based prevention: threat assessment teams, anonymous reporting, and the coordination with law enforcement that a shared, responder-ready map supports. Note the BJA arm cannot fund target-hardening equipment such as cameras, locks, or fencing, that hardware sits with COPS SVPP. The two arms are complementary.
What the program funds, and who can apply
Evidence-based school violence prevention: training school personnel and students to prevent violence; anonymous threat-reporting systems/apps and technology; school threat assessment teams; intervention/crisis teams; mental health crisis response training; coordination with law enforcement. NOTE: BJA STOP funds CANNOT be used for target-hardening equipment (cameras, security systems, fencing, locks, etc.) or to hire armed security/school resource officers - that side is funded by COPS SVPP. The two STOP arms are complementary.
